After an April 2024 spring series of hands-on urban planning workshops in Chemnitz-Sonenberg (Germany), in cooperation with Taupunkt OFF-Bühne KOMPLEX, and June 2024 workshops, bike rides, lectures, and discussions in Chisinau (Moldova), in cooperation with Czech Centre Bucharest, A. O. Salvați Chișinăul / Save Chișinău, and Alianța Biciclete Chișinău, in the spring of 2025 the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) will show models and texts by the Czech trio of urban planners and artists Osamu Okamura, David Böhm, and Jiri Franta. Their publication “City for Everyone – A Manual of Urbanism for Beginners” was a DAM Architectural Book Award winner in 2022. And we will ask all together: How can we change the city of Frankfurt for the better? On top of that, four more exhibition participations are planned internationally for 2025-2026 (Germany, Japan, Czech Republic).
The CITY FOR EVERYONE project makes current urban planning topics more accessible, especially for teenagers and young adults. Therefore planning topics relating to the city as a living space are presented in very understandable language. Moreover, the strikingly complex design makes issues understandable even for beginners. The content is structured by lively, colorful, detailed models illustrating diverse urban planning topics. The fact that the models have developed a fascinating life of their own and have already been successfully exhibited in several European cities is an indication of their extraordinary effectiveness.
Hands-on Workshops and Urban Safari
As part of the exhibition, city planner Okamura will lead city safaris for groups of young people and adults. And again we will focus on the question: How can we change the city of Frankfurt for the better? Further workshops will be offered by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) team.
“CITY FOR EVERYONE. Hands-on urban planning.” From June 2025, DAM, Schaumainkai 43, Frankfurt am Main. More info: DEUTSCHES ARCHITEKTURMUSEUM (DAM). With the kind support of the Polytechnic Society Frankfurt Foundation and the Friends of the DAM.
2024 is the anniversary year! The DAM is celebrating its 40th anniversary and will properly celebrate this with the reopening of the renovated museum building. 👏
